Assessment Resources

    Teachers that are experiencing difficultly with either a login or password on the AEA Online Assessment Site or the NWEA MAP Reports Site should contact Brad Fox at 319 545-4490 or bradfox@ccaschools.org.

    NWEA MAP Assessment Guide
    Username and password required.
    Once you have entered the site using a username and password, you'll have some choices of where to go to navigate within the site to find more information. Please read each area below to gain more information about the reports and information you can gather. One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with the site is to explore and experiment reports.

    After you login, along the left side of the page you will find different areas you can click into. Information below will explain what can be accessed at some of the sites on the left column.

    Teacher Reports
    This area is designed to give you web access to test results for your class. You can view reports containing all current information within 24 hours of uploading your data to NWEA. Additionally, you can choose to view results from previous terms.    		 Class Rosters
    Provides detailed information by class on individual student

    DesCartes
    Another area you can access from the left side of the login page. More detailed information about DesCartes is included in this packet. It is titled DesCartes Essentials. In order to gain a better understanding of DesCartes reading the Essentials is helpful. Information about how to use DesCartes is below:

    • Select the subject in the left column.
    • Select the goal area in the middle column.
    • Select the RIT range in the right column.
    • A new browser window will open with Adobe Reader* and the requested page will display.
    • Refer to the Annotated Page for explanation of the results.
    		Class by Subject
    Provides information about individual classes for a specific testing period. It allows you to sort alphabetically or by RIT score.
    Grade by Subject
    Provides information about an entire grade for a specific testing period. It allows you to sort alphabetically or by RIT score.
    Students Not Tested
    Provides information about students that have not been tested during a specific testing period.
    Class by RIT
    Provides a class breakdown by RIT and gives a visual representation of the academic diversity in performance.

    Dynamic Reports
    Another area you can access from the left side of the login page. Once you click on the Dynamic Reports link on the left column you will go to a new screen. When you reach the new screen you have to click the Dynamic Reports (in a grey box) and this will take you to the site. The dynamic reporting suite is a new reporting platform that simplifies data analysis and offers classroom tools to apply test scores directly to instruction. Reading below will explain the individual reports from the site.

    Teacher Class Overview
    This section provides a breakdown by class of your distribution on the MAP assessment by performance and projected performance. At the very top, right hand corner of the report you can click a link and get suggested Strategies and Activities information for parents and students. This can be very useful at Parent/Teacher Conferences.     		Goal by RIT Band
    Provides a breakdown by student, by test, within each area of the test. For example, in reading you would get a breakdown of your particular class within each specific area of the reading test. You can click on the Goal RIT Band and it will tell you the names of the students within that particular band. This can be very helpful in choosing supplemental groups or for differentiating the instruction within your class, reading group, math group, etc.
    Lexile Report
    Provides individual student lexile bands for each student based on the MAP results. This is done by class.     		Grade by RIT Band
    Provides a look at overall RIT bands for each individual class.
    Lexile Report
    Provides individual student lexile bands for each student based on the MAP results. This is done by class.     		Student Goal Setting Worksheet
    Provides an individual goal setting worksheet for each student. The worksheet can be set up based on fall to fall, fall to spring, or spring to spring goals. For the most part as a district we are focusing on fall to spring goals.
    Student Booklist
    Allows the teachers to search for possible books for individual students based on their lexile score. There is an area in which teachers can search for books based on titles and summaries. Once again, the students are grouped by class.     		Student Projected Performance
    This section projects performance for the MAP assessments by student. The projected performance will be either advanced, proficient, or below proficient. Within this section there is also a link to individual goal setting worksheets for students. Once again, the students are grouped by class.

     

    Online Assessment System
    Username and password required. Once you've entered the site there are some choices of where to go for more information. Please read below for information about the site and the information you can gather.

    Assessment Reports (across the top of page)
    This is where you go to look at different assessment reports.

    Proficiency Report
    This report will provide a breakdown of proficiency percents over an extended period of time. It also gives a breakdown of proficiency percents for subgroups such as IEP, ESL, race, etc.    		 Performance Levels by Subgroups
    This report provide a breakdown of proficiency by categories; Proficient, High, Intermediate, and Low.
    Grade by Performance Levels
    This report will provide a breakdown of proficiency by grade level.    		 Disaggregated Data
    This report will provide a breakdown of performance levels by gender, race, ELL, etc.
    Grade by Proficiency Report
    This report will provide a breakdown by student and grade those students that are considered proficient.     		Student Growth Single Assessment
    This report will provide by student and grade the yearly growth. Generally this is good to view by National Grade Equivalency.
    Student Growth Multiple Assessments
    This report will provide student information on both the MAP and ITBS tests.     		Individualized Student Graphing
    This report will provide student graphs on either ITBS or MAP tests. Teachers will find this site useful in providing information to parents, especially at conference time.

    Direct Assessment Lookup (across the top of page)
    This report will provide individual student information on all testing that has been uploaded to the AEA site.

    Dictionary Data Entry (across the top of page)
    This report is not accessible to teachers.
    Administrative (across the top of page)
    This report is not accessible to teachers.
    Help (across the top of page)
    This report is a help site for the online assessment system.
    Preferences (across the top of page)
    This site will allow you to change your password.

    NOTE: As you do reports, there are some important steps to remember.
    1. Remember to choose the test year.
    2. Remember to choose the specific grade.
    3. Remember to choose output, this will allow you to specify what type
        of report you want; National Grade Equivalency, National Percentile
        Rank, IPR, etc. You will also have to choose the specific test you want to
        look at; capitalization, math total, etc.
